She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from North Dakota State University and has worked in many areas of dietetics including acute and long-term care, outpatient medical nutrition therapy, weight management, outpatient dialysis and clinical nutrition management. Amy served as Chair of the Academy’s Nutrition Services Payment Committee in 2017-2018 and has served as Reimbursement Representative for the North Dakota Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for the past 8 years.  Amy is excited about the opportunity to serve as President-elect for NDAND. She enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering.

Candidate for Treasurer-elect Jill Schiermeister:

Hi, my name is Jill Schiermeister; I am currently working at Sanford Health both in the hospital and in clinical setting as an Oncology Dietitian. I was originally born and raised in Montana and moved to North Dakota in 2013. I received my BS in Nutrition and Food Science from Middle Tennessee State University and then went on to intern at various agencies through Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. I am proud to say that I am one of two Dietitians in the state of North Dakota that is board certified in Oncology Nutrition and have held this certification for the past 10 years. I love working with cancer patients as this population and their nutritional needs are constantly changing. Being able to help them along the journey gives me joy and satisfaction knowing that I made a difference and helped contribute to their success of being cancer free. While I love what I do as a dietitian I want to be able to give back by being more involved with our profession either at the local, state or national level. It also gives me a greater opportunity to network with other dietitians in our communities.

In my down time, I stay very busy helping my husband raise his three amazing children and all their school and sports activities. I am also involved in church functions and am a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and assist with Altar Guild duties. I love to hang out with friends, travel to new places and try new foods, and am an avid Tennessee Titans football fan. Finally, most importantly I enjoy “me” time by going for a long run while listening to all types of music.

Candidate for Secretary Brianna Monahan:

Brianna Monahan is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and serves as the Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (DPCP) Coordinator for the North Dakota Department of Health.

In her current role, Brianna works to expand and support Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSMES) Programs and the National Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) throughout North Dakota. Through this work, Brianna aims to reduce the burden of diabetes, and improve the quality of life for all North Dakotans with or at risk for developing the disease.

Brianna received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Maine. She completed her Dietetic Internship at Maine Medical Center. Having worked in various clinical and community settings in both Maine and Beijing, China, Brianna has focused her career on empowering people to lead happier, healthier lives through lifestyle change.
